Storing Gluten Free Baked Goods
How long will my gluten-free baked goods stay fresh?
Wheat gluten and artificial preservatives are the key components that help prevent staling in regular baked goods. Without them, all-natural, gluten-free baked goods have a relatively short shelf life in comparison. Most of my gluten-free baked goods will maintain their optimal freshness for an average of 3 days after delivery when kept in an airtight container or bag at room temperature. I recommend consuming your gluten-free baked goods within 3 days or freezing immediately for later use.
Should I refrigerate my gluten-free baked goods?
No. All of my gluten-free baked goods are shelf stable and do not require refrigeration. In fact, refrigeration is not recommended for gluten-free baked goods. The dry atmosphere and cool temperature of refrigeration accelerates their staling.
How should I store my gluten-free baked goods?
If you plan to consume your gluten-free baked goods within 3 days, they can be stored at room temperature in an air tight container or bag. If you prefer to store them for later use, I recommend freezing them immediately. My gluten-free baked goods can be frozen in their vacuum sealed pouches. If you are freezing a loaf of bread, you may wish to remove it from the vacuum sealed pouch and slice it before freezing. Placing sheets of wax paper or parchment paper between the slices before freezing will make it easier to remove individual frozen slices as you need them. Freeze your sliced bread in a zip top freezer bag. Frozen gluten-free bread slices toast well. Gluten-free baked goods can be kept in the freezer for up to three months.
How should I thaw my frozen gluten-free baked goods?
I recommend that you thaw only what you plan to eat immediately. Frozen gluten-free baked goods can be thawed at room temperature, heated in the microwave, toasted, or warmed in the oven.
I would love to bake you happy!
